Neil Labute is an American writer, producer and writer best known for his work on projects like Audience's "Full Circle", Audience's "Billy & Billie", and AMC's "Hell on Wheels". He's currently the writer, creator and show runner on Syfy's Van Helsing.

History[]

He was born on March 19th of 1963 in Detroit Michigan. Before becoming a writer and producer for shows and movies, he was a playwright. He attended Brigham Young University and took theater as a major. Many say that David Mamet, the Pulitzer-Prize winner was a strong influence on him. 

Biography[]

Neil's directorial debut was in 1997 film called "In the Company of Men". He followed this up with the 1998 film "Your Friends & Neighbors". His first job as a producer was in 2003, a film called "The Shape of Things".

Since then, he has built an illustrious career for himself, known by many as a force to be reckoned with. He's written, produced, and directed such films as "The Vicious Kind", "I Melt with You", "Some Freaks", "Bash: Latter-Day Plays", "Stars in Shorts", "My America", and many, many more that followed.

  • Graduated from the University of Kansas and New York University.
  • Awarded a scholarship to London's Royal Court Theatre in the US in Chicago, Los Angeles and New York City.
  • Received his Masters degree in Theater and Film.
